This iconic tower, symbol of Seville and World Heritage site, is&nbsp, the alminar of the Seville's Aljama mosque, ordered to be built by Abu Ysqub Yusuf in 1184. It was the tallest tower in the world (97.5 m). A curious fact, also shared by other Almohad minarets such as the Koutoubia in Marrakech: the Giralda does not have stairs, but instead 35 ramps wide enough to allow the muezzin to ascend mounted on horseback.
