Mijas Travel Tips
CHOOSE YOUR DATES
In Mijas you will enjoy the excellent climate of the Costa del Sol, so it is a destination worth visiting at any time of the year, also in winter. Like any other coastal destination in Spain, July and August are the most crowded and expensive months. From the end of October to March, you will find better prices.
HOW TO GETMijas is located 28 km away from Malaga-Costa del Sol International Airport (AGP), with direct connections to the main Spanish and European cities. Additionally, the Malaga-María Zambrano Train Station operates AVE fast trains to Madrid, Barcelona and other capital cities. Costa del Sol also boasts one of the best road networks of the country, with highways and toll motorways leading to any point of the region and Spain. The price of a taxi from Malaga airport or train station to Mijas (both ‘Pueblo’ and ‘Costa’) is approx € 40.
FROM THEREMijas is located in the geographical center of the Western Costa del Sol, that is, a privileged place to visit other famous destinations of this region such as Marbella, Estepona, Benalmádena or Torremolinos. Of course, Malaga too. Also ideal for day trips to Granada, Cordoba or Seville.
TWO AREASThis municipality has two main population centers, one of them located on the coast -Mijas Costa- and the other one in the interior mountainous area, about 428 meters above sea level, and with a typical Andalusian village character: Mijas Pueblo (old village). Both are interesting tourist destinations although most of the accommodations are in the coastal area.
